Aluminum-maker Novelis Inc. and Henkel Corp.'s adhesive technologies unit have agreed to co-develop advanced aluminum adhesive systems for high-volume vehicles.
The first product released under the long-term deal is Henkel's Bonderite M-NT 8453, a chrome-free aluminum surface pre-treatment that improves adhesion and durability characteristics of bonded joints. The material will be offered without license fees in an effort to promote the aluminum industry among carmakers.
