The National Labor Relations Board has filed a complaint against Tesla Inc. after finding merit in workers’ claims about the electric carmaker’s unfair labor practices, Reuters reports.
The board cites as an example is requiring employees to sign a confidentiality agreement that bars them from discussing work conditions or safety issues at the company’s assembly plant in Fremont, Calif. Reuters says NLRB also has investigated claims by workers that Tesla harassed them and violated basic workers’ rights covered by U.S. labor laws.
Tesla is required to respond to the charges by Sept. 14. The company says the claims, which were filed by workers seeking to unionize the factory, are “entirely without merit.”
