Nissan Motor Co. says Jon Brancheau, who has headed marketing for the company's North American unit since 2010, is leaving the company.
In comments released through Nissan, Brancheau says he wants to "push the pause' button to spend some quality time with my family." Nissan tells Automotive News it attempted unsuccessfully to coax him to remain.
Brancheau joined Nissan eight years ago and became vice president of marketing for North America in 2010. Since then he has spent much of his time trying to sharpen and improve Nissan's fuzzy image in the American market by touting the brand as innovative and sporty.
