Nissan Motor Co. hopes to offset slowing sales growth in the U.S. with above-average expansion in China, India, the Middle East and Africa, Reuters reports.

The company hiked its sales in the U.S. 75% from 2010 to 2017. But the gain involved massive retail incentives that cut its operating profit in the region by almost one-third.

Nissan tells reporters it expects to boost sales in emerging markets with a combination of its low-price Datsun brand and an expanded lineup of Nissan-branded SUV/crossover vehicles. The company anticipates big gains in market share in Saudi Arabia and South Africa by 2022.
