Nissan Motor Co., whose domestic output dropped 9% to 881,000 units in 2014, expects to build more than 1 million vehicles in Japan next year.

Virtually all the additional production is likely to be exported, as Japan's domestic car market continues to shrink. CEO Carlos Ghosn tells Bloomberg News that Nissan's export business will benefit from the weak yen.

Nissan expects its sales in Japan will drop 4% in the fiscal year that began April 1. But it predicts its global volume will grow 4%.

In the U.S., which is Nissan's largest national market, the company outsold Honda Motor Co. in the first four months of 2015 to become America's fifth-largest carmaker.
