Nissan Titan Gets Longer Warranty

Nissan Motor Co. says it will provide a segment-best 5-year/100,000-mile, bumper-to-bumper warranty on all versions of its 2017 Titan fullsize pickup truck, which goes on sale later this month.
The 2016 Titan has 5-year/100,000-mile coverage for its powertrain. But the rest of the truck has an industry standard 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
Nissan hopes the extended warranty helps it make inroads in the U.S. fullsize pickup market, which has long been dominated by domestic nameplates. It also is launching commercial work truck versions of the Titan, including a two-door model with a 5.6-liter V-8 engine.
The first-generation Titan was launched in 2003. Sales peaked at 86,900 units in 2005 but haven’t topped 35,000 per year—a small fraction of the segment-leading Ford F-Series—since 2007.
Nissan introduced a 5-year/100,000-mile warranty for its commercial vans two years ago. Sales of its vans were up 10% year-over-year—including a 17% hike for the NV200 cargo van— through July.
