Nissan Motor Co. and Renault Group have hired Mazars Group, the French auditor, to look for possible financial misconduct within their 20-year-old alliance.
Sources tell Bloomberg News that Mazars will focus on Renault-Nissan BV, an Amsterdam-based entity that coordinates the partnership.
RNBV, Renault and Nissan all were formerly chaired by Carlos Ghosn. He was arrested in Japan on Nov. 19 on suspicion of understating his deferred compensation at Nissan, temporarily shifting personal currency trading losses to the Japanese carmaker and hiding the use of corporate funds to buy several homes for his use.
The claims against the executive came out of a lengthy internal investigation by Nissan. Prosecutors have since charged the company and Ghosn for failing to report 9 billion yen ($82 million) in Ghosn compensation between 2000 and 2018.
