Nissan Recalls Murano Crossovers for Brake Flaw

Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 92,200 of its Murano crossover vehicles in the US. and Canada to fix a sticky antilock braking system valve.
The campaign involves the 2009 model Murano (pictured). Nissan says certain brake fluid additives intended to inhibit corrosion may, in fact, cause a hydraulic control valve in the system to corrode and stick in the open position after the ABS is activated.
If that happens, the amount of brake pedal travel required to stop the vehicle would increase. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which has received nearly 500 complaints about the problem, reports 14 crashes that may be linked to the flaw.
Dealers will flush the brake system, switch from DOT 3 to DOT 4 brake fluid and replace the valve if necessary.
