Nissan Recall Targets Lift Gate Failures
Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 108,500 of its 2014-2016 Rogue compact SUVs in the U.S. to replace rear hatch support struts that could suddenly lose pressure and allow the hatch to drop unexpectedly.

Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 108,500 of its 2014-2016 Rogue compact SUVs in the U.S. to replace rear hatch support struts that could suddenly lose pressure and allow the hatch to drop unexpectedly.
The company blames the problem on a Japanese supplier that applied the wrong anti-corrosion coating to the struts, which lift the hatch and hold it open. Exposure to salty spray can corrode the strut tube and produce a sudden pressure leak and cause the strut to break off.
Nissan says it will notify owners of the problem in mid-June and begin the recall after it procures enough replacement parts.
