Nissan Motor Co. has filed a trademark request for the name Terra with the Malaysian patent office.

The name could be used for an all-electric crossover vehicle based on the next-generation Leaf EV that is due to launch later this year, media reports suggest. They say the new model likely will share the Leaf’s 60-kWh battery and have a driving range of about 200 miles.

Nissan showed the electric TeRRa (pictured) concept crossover in 2012. That vehicle teamed the outgoing Leaf’s electric drivetrain to power the front wheels with a fuel cell system in the rear.
