Nissan Motor Co. reportedly plans to file a civil lawsuit in Japan that demands former Chairman Carlos Ghosn pay for damages resulting from his alleged misuse of corporate funds.
A Nissan source tells Reuters the company won’t take action until the expanding list of charges against Ghosn is completed. Ghosn has been charged with failing to report $82 million in deferred compensation between fiscal 2010-2017 and temporarily transferring $16 million in currency trade losses to the company.
Japanese prosecutors also reportedly are investigating whether Ghosn misused company funds to acquire and remodel multiple residences, get his sister a job as a consultant to Nissan and make payments to a Saudi businessman for helping him cover debts on personal currency trade losses.
