A board committee set up to suggest a new chairman for Nissan Motor Co. failed to reach agreement on Thursday, making a planned decision on Monday by the full board less likely, says The Nikkei.

The panel of Nissan’s three outside board directors are to make a recommendation from the roster of nine current board members.

The two leading candidates reportedly are CEO Hiroto Saikawa, who championed the investigation into Ghosn’s alleged financial wrongdoing; and Vice Chairman Toshiyuki Shiga, a Renault SA executive and former Ghosn confidant.
