Nissan Motor Corp. says a production version of the Ariya concept electric crossover vehicle it unveiled at this week’s Tokyo auto show could be launched within two years.

The concept features two electric motors—one on each axle—and a host of advanced technologies. Nissan offers no details about performance.
Built on a dedicated EV platform, the Ariya is 181 inches long, 76 inches wide and 64 inches tall. That makes it slightly smaller than the current Rogue compact crossover.
The concept includes Nissan’s latest ProPilot 2.0 semi-autonomous driving system with automated parking capability, over-the-air software updates and bi-directional charging that will allow the car to provide energy back to the electric grid. Nissan also touts the Ariya’s braking performance and split torque capabilities.

The Ariya, a toned-down version of Nissan’s 2017 IMx concept, sports a solid version of the carmaker’s signature “V-motion” grille. In the EV, the grille houses the car’s ADAS sensor array.
The interior is highlighted by a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The car’s only physical controls beyond the steering wheel and brake pedal are the start button, HVAC switches and a knob to operate the display unit.
