Nissan Motor Co. is launching two worldwide recalls to fix faulty hood latches and electrical problems in about 768,000 of its Rogue, Pathfinder and Infiniti SUV/crossover vehicles.
The larger campaign covers more than 552,000 of Nissan's 2008-2014 model Rogue SUVs, most of them located in North America. Salty water can seep through the driver's floor mat and short circuit a wiring harness underneath. Dealers will replace corroded harnesses and seal those that aren't yet damaged.
Nissan's second recall affects about 216,000 Nissan Pathfinder SUVs made during the 2013-2014 model years, plus 2013-2014 Infiniti JX35/QX60 large luxury crossovers. All affected vehicles are fitted with secondary hood latches that may fail to retain the hood if the primary latch isn't properly fastened. Nissan says it discovered the latch problem after recalling 2013 model Altima sedans to fix the same flaw. The company reports some incidents but no crashes or injuries.
