Nissan Adds 260,000 Vehicles to Takata Airbag Recall

Nissan Motor Co. has added 260,000 vehicles in Japan, Europe and China to a global recall aimed at fixing vehicles equipped with defective airbag inflators that could explode.

Within the past two years Nissan has recalled 694,600 vehicles in the U.S. alone to replace the faulty inflators, which were made by Takata Corp. So far 10 carmakers have recalled more than 16 million vehicles worldwide to replace defective Takata airbag systems.

Nissan says its new recall includes 104,900 vehicles in Japan, 30,000 in Europe and 11,000 in China.
