NHTSA Urges “Immediate Action” on Takata Airbag Recalls
Owners of 4.7 million vehicles in the U.S. are being urged by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to respond immediately to recalls to fix defective airbags in their cars and trucks.

Owners of 4.7 million vehicles in the U.S. are being urged by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to respond immediately to recalls to fix defective airbags in their cars and trucks.
Carmakers have been recalling vehicles for more than five years to replace flawed Takata Corp. airbag inflators in some 16 million vehicles worldwide.
NHTSA's direct plea to consumers to heed those recalls is unusual. Monday's advisory concerns only campaigns launched in the past two years. The agency says those callbacks involve 45 models from six carmakers:

- Civic (2001-2005)
- CR-V (2002-2006)
- Element (2003-2011)
- Odyssey (2002-2004)

- Lexus SC (2002-2004)
- Corolla/Matrix (2003-2004)
- Pontiac Vibe (2003-2004)
- Sequoia (2002-2004)
- Tundra (2003-2004)
- 3 Series convertibles (2000-2006)
- 3 Series coupes (2000-2006)
- 3 Series sedans (2000-2005)
- 3 Series wagons (2000-2005)
- M3 coupe and convertibles (2001-2006)
- Maxima (2001-2003)
- Pathfinder (2001-2003)
- Sentra (2002-2003)
- Infiniti I30 and I35 (2001-2003)
