The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says its Office of Defects Investigation has opened two preliminary investigations into a handful of recent reports about engine fires in the 2010 Jeep Wrangler and 2011 Chevrolet Cruze.
ODI says the fires in all but one of 10 reports broke out while the vehicle was being driven. In several cases, the vehicle was destroyed.
