The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating complaints that the emergency braking system on the new Infiniti JX35 crossover may spontaneously bring the vehicle to a halt.

The agency's initial probe covers about 8,000 vehicles from the 2013 model year.

Two owners tell the agency their vehicles came to a dead stop on several occasions on a bridge. NHTSA says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries caused by the problem.
