Side airbags that may be triggered by slamming a door have prompted a preliminary investigation by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The probe targets an estimated 155,000 Nissan Versa small sedans produced during the 2012 model year. NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation didn’t say what company supplied the airbag systems.
A preliminary investigation by ODI aims to determine the scope and frequency of a possible defect. Results can result in an engineering analysis, which frequently leads to a recall.
