Steering and driver assist systems supplier Nexteer Automotive Group Ltd. has appointed Michael Richardson, its chief strategy officer, as interim president and global chief operating officer, effective immediately.
Richardson replaced Laurent Bresson, who held the position for four years. Bresson is leaving on good terms to pursue other interests after completing the company’s restructuring, according to Nexteer.
Richardson is a 42-year veteran with the company. He will continue his previous role, where he led the company’s strategic planning and merger-and-acquisition activities.
Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Nexteer, previously known as Saginaw Steering Gear, was spun off by General Motors Co. in 1999. GM reacquired the company a decade later, then sold it in 2010 to Beijing-backed Pacific Century Motors Inc.
