Porsche AG is developing a new version of its high-performance 911 GT3 RS sports car that will have a larger, more powerful engine, Autocar reports.

The new powerplant could be based on the 4.2-liter 6-cylinder inline mill that RUF Automobile GmbH, a German tuner that specializes in Porsche cars, demonstrated in its 911-based SCR 4.2 concept at this year’s Geneva auto show. In that vehicle, the water-cooled engine generated 518 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

The current RS model’s 4.0-liter flat-6 engine makes 493 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. It’s the largest 6-cylinder boxer engine in Porsche’s lineup.

Porsche declined to comment on the possibility of a 4.2-liter GT3.
