Beleaguered Dutch boutique carmaker Spyker NV, which exited bankruptcy last summer, plans to introduce a new concept car at the Geneva auto show in March. Media reports speculate the vehicle will be an all-electric model, possibly based on the B6 Venator sports car the company previously had been planning.
Shortly after emerging from bankruptcy, Spyker announced plans to partner with Volta Volare Inc., a Portland, Ore.-based maker of high-performance electric airplanes, to develop electric drivetrains. It’s not known if the new concept car stems from that partnership.
Spyker, whose origins date to the 1880s, was relaunched in 1999 after a 75-year hiatus. The company, which briefly owned Saab Automobiles after buying the brand from General Motors in 2010, has been struggling to stay afloat for several years. It hasn’t produced a vehicle since 2012.
