New McLaren Supercar Due in 2018

McLaren Automotive Ltd. plans to replace its current 650S supercar with an all-new model by 2018, Autocar reports. It says the vehicle, codenamed P14, will have bolder styling and be more powerful than the 650S, which replaced McLaren's 12C car last year.
Design chief Frank Stephenson describes the P14's styling, which will launch McLaren's new design language, as "crazier" than that of the P1 supercar. But McLaren's signature front bumper and side-mounted air intakes are likely to be kept, as will the company's carbon fiber tub architecture, Autocar says.
Power will come from the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 that currently is used in the 650S, according to the report. Output is expected to increase slightly in the P14 to as much as 660 hp, with a zero-to-60 mph performance target of less than three seconds and a top speed of more than 205 mph.
The P14 will debut as a coupe and be followed a year later by a convertible with a folding hardtop roof, the magazine says.
