Mazda Motor Corp. unveiled the all-new CX-30 compact crossover vehicle at this week’s Geneva auto show.

Mazda describes the CX-30 as a core model in its global lineup. The vehicle sports an updated version of the carmaker’s Kodo design language, blending a coupe-like roofline with a tall body.
Three powertrains will be available in Europe, where the vehicle launches later this year. The base engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with cylinder deactivation; a 1.8-liter diesel is optional.
The CX-30 also will offer Mazda’s 2.0-liter SkyActiv-X homogeneous-charge-compression-ignition engine that debuts in the Mazda3. This engine and the base 2.0-liter mill will be teamed with mild-hybrid systems.
All models will feature all-wheel drive with torque vectoring capability. Buyers can opt for either a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.
Among the available safety systems are pre-collision braking and front cross-traffic alert. The CX-30 also is equipped with a driver monitoring system that detects signs of drowsiness and inattentiveness.
