Japan’s Denso Corp. has entered into a joint development agreement with Morpho Inc., a Tokyo-based image-processing company, to jointly develop next-generation image-recognition systems. Under terms of the agreement, Denso also will subscribe to all Morpho future stock share issues.

Denso says the partnership will help strengthen its safety-related monitoring technologies, including electronic rearview mirrors and other advanced driving aids. The systems use image processing and “deep” machine-learning technology, according to the companies.

Founded in 2004, Morpho posted sales of 1.4 billion yen ($11.6 million) for the fiscal year ending October 31.
