Sales of passenger vehicles in China last month improved on year-earlier rates for the first time since June, according to the China Passenger Car Assn.

The trade group says retail deliveries advanced to 1.66 million units in October from 1.52 million a year earlier. Analysts attribute most of the upturn to increased sales incentives by dealers.

The government-sanctioned China Assn. of Automobile Manufacturers will release its data on October sales at the end of next week.
