General Motors Co. Cadillac is preparing to introduce an all-new 4.2-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that will generate nearly 500 hp.
The new V-8 will debut in the upcoming CT6 luxury sedan, Cadillac CEO Johan de Nysschen tells Car & Driver. The magazine speculates that the range-topping CT6 Platinum model will be the first to get the powerplant sometime after the base model is launched this spring.
The 4.2-liter V-8 won’t be based on GM’s small-block architecture, nor will it share any components with the supercharged 6.2-liter mill used in the high-performance CTS-V and Chevrolet Corvette Z06, according to the C&D report. It says the engine will be mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
