Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is recalling at least 854,000 vehicles worldwide, including nearly 704,000 in Japan, to remedy a light switch defect that can cause the headlamps and turn signals to stop working.
The campaign covers 12 models built during the 2003-2008 model years. They include Colt small cars, Pajero/Montero SUVs and eK Wagon microvans (also supplied to Nissan Motor Co. as the Otti).
The recall is MMC's largest since the company called back 1.8 million vehicles a year ago to repair an engine oil leak.
