To celebrate the 100th anniversary of its first mass-produced vehicle, Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is developing a plug-in hybrid version of its 1917 Model A car.
The concept vehicle will be based on MMC’s Outlander Plug-in Hybrid architecture. The company, which is partnering with West Coast Customs on the project, says the new vehicle will combine the latest technologies with “distinctive aspects” of its forbearer.
Based on the Fiat Tipo 3, the Mitsubishi Model A was Japan's first mass-produced vehicle, according to the company. MMC built just 22 of the cars during a four-year production run.
