Mitsubishi Motors Corp.’s next-generation Mirage small car will ride on Renault-Nissan’s new CMF-B modular platform.
The new Mirage, which is due next year as a 2020 model, also will feature more aggressive styling than the current model, reports Response. The Japanese car enthusiast website says design elements will be borrowed from the Lancer Evolution sports sedan and Colt Ralliart hot hatchback.
Powertrain choices are expected to include a 900-cc turbocharged 3-cylinder engine and a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel. An all-electric variant also has been rumored.
The CMF-B platform also is due to carry the Nissan Juke, Renault Clio and Captur, and Dacia Sandero III and Logan III. Mitsubishi is increasingly sharing platforms with alliance partners Renault and Nissan, including the larger CMF-C and D modular architectures. Renault acquired a controlling 34% stake in MMC in 2016.
