Michelin & Cie. is recalling 841,000 of its BF Goodrich Commercial T/A A/S and Uniroyal Laredo HD/H tires because their tread belt may suddenly separate and cause a blowout.

Two sizes of each tire are included in the recall, which covers the U.S., Canada and Mexico. About 95% of the tires were sold in the U.S. and are typically used in commercial light trucks and fullsize heavy duty vans.

Michelin says the tires, which are no longer in production, were made beginning in April 2010. All were sold as replacement rather than original-equipment tires.
