Daimler AG is recalling 5,800 vehicles in the U.S. from the 2011 and 2012 model years to replace a faulty fuel filter flange that could crack and leak.
The campaign, which is expected to begin in January, covers eight models: C300, CL550, CL63, E350, S400, S550, S63 and GLK350.
Daimler attributes the flaw to an improper molding process. The fuel filter flange sits atop the fuel filter and connects the filter to the fuel tank, according to the company. It says the part was molded with insufficient material that could fail at high temperatures.
