Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz Cars unit is recalling 58,300 sedans and crossover vehicles in the U.S. whose electric power steering system could fail.
The campaign involves E300 and E400 sedans and several GL and GLE crossover models produced during the 2016 and/or 2017 model years.
Affected vehicles may have faulty seals that could allow water to enter the power steering control module, cause a short circuit and disable the power steering function. Daimler says its dealers will inspect the electric steering rack and may replace it.
