Mercedes-Benz Posts Best Sales Month Ever

Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz unit sold 162,700 vehicles last month, up 14% from September 2013. It was the highest-volume month in the brand's history.

Mercedes sales through the first nine months of 2014 grew 13% to an all-time record of 1.19 million vehicles. Daimler expects full-year sales to surpass last year's record 1.46 million units by a significant margin.

Results this year are being driven in part by strong demand for the expanding array of small Mercedes models.

Daimler says overall Mercedes sales rose 8% to 534,300 units in Europe and surged 31% to 203,500 vehicles in China in the January-September period.
