McLaren Automotive Ltd. took the wraps off its MSO HS (High Sport) hyper-car ahead of the car’s public debut at next month’s Paris auto show.
Developed by McLaren’s Special Operations unit, the vehicle is a souped-up, lightweight version of the carmaker’s 675LT supercar. It features a host of carbon fiber components, including the front bumper, hood and roof.
Aerodynamic goodies include a splitter and race-style winglets up front, along with side skirts, a roof-mounted air induction scoop, an air diffuser built into the rear bumper and a large rear wing. The add-ons generate 485 lbs of downforce at 150 mph, according to the carmaker.
Power comes from a recalibrated version of the 675LT 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine that increases output 2% to 679 hp. Torque stays the same at 516 lb-ft. Performance information hasn’t been released.
The interior includes Alcantara upholstery and other high-end materials and appointments. A trio of cameras allows drivers to record their actions to help improve their track driving skills.
The 25-unit production run is sold out. Pricing for the customized vehicles is said to be significantly higher than the 675LT’s $350,000 sticker.
