Italy’s Mazzanti Automobili says its upcoming Evantra Millecavalli supercar will be equipped with a twin-turbocharged 7.2-liter V-8 that generates 1,000 hp and 885 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant will rocket the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and to a top speed of 250 mph.
Mazzanti claims the Millecavalli (Italian for a thousand horses) will be the most powerful street-legal car ever produced in Italy, besting the 950-hp Ferrari LaFerrari. The base Evantra, which was introduced three years ago, has a naturally aspirated 7.2-liter V-8 that makes 751 hp and 634 lb-ft of torque.
In addition to the upgraded engine, the Evantra Millecavalli will get a wider track, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes and lightweight aluminum body panels. Aerodynamic enhancements include a fixed rear wing, a roof-mounted air scoop and large front air intakes.
The company will publicly unveil the Millecavalli at next month’s Turin auto show.
Production will be limited to 25 vehicles. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but likely will be well above the base model’s $970,000 sticker.
