Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling 14,400 Mazda3 sedans in the U.S. to repair a faulty fuel tank shut-off valve. The campaign affects 2015-2016 vehicles built between May 21 and August 25 of this year.
The valve could allow gasoline to enter the fuel system's emissions vapor canister, causing the engine to stall and/or result in fuel leaking onto the ground and creating a fire risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Dealers will inspect the shut-off valve and charcoal canister. Defective components will be replaced if necessary.
