Mazda Motor Corp. will take the wraps off an SUV/crossover concept at next month's Frankfurt auto show. The vehicle, dubbed the Koeru, is described as a close-to-production concept that reflects market-ready styling attributes based on Mazda's "soul of motion" Kodo design language.
Mazda didn't provide any details about the concept's size or performance attributes. But the company says it chose the name Koeru, which means to "exceed" or "go beyond," because the model is meant to transcend traditional vehicle segments and stereotypes.
An illustration of the concept vehicle shows sculpted fenders similar to those on the CX-3 compact crossover. The CX-3 was launched in Japan and Europe earlier this year and will bow in the U.S. later this summer.
Other design elements include a low roofline, bold front end and short rear overhang. The Koeru also features typical concept treatments such as oversized wheels and a roof-mounted rear spoiler.
