Mazda Motor Corp. has released several teaser images of a new concept crossover/SUV that will be publicly unveiled later this month at the Beijing auto show.

Dubbed the “Exploring-Coupe SUV” the new model’s coupe-like styling builds on last year’s Koeru concept vehicle and is expected to preview Mazda’s upcoming CX-4 small crossover vehicle. The production CX-4 will be built in China exclusively for the domestic market.

The car will be built on the same platform and is expected to be about the size of Mazda’s CX-5 crossover. Power likely will come from a re-tuned version of the CX-5’s Skyactiv 2.0- and 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engines. A high-output version of Mazda’s 2.2-liter four-banger diesel also is expected.
