Mazda Shuffles N. America Executive Team

Mazda Motor Corp. has named Masahiro Moro, currently current president and CEO of North American operations, to the additional post of chairman of the region.

Mazda Motor Corp. has named Masahiro Moro, currently current president and CEO of North American operations, to the additional post of chairman of the region.  

Moro (pictured) will remain CEO of Mazda North America (MNAO). In his expanded role, Moro will oversee MNAO, Mazda Canada Inc. and Mazda Motor de Mexico.
 

Jeffrey Guyton, currently president and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe, will succeed Moro as president of MNAO. Guyton will be responsible for the company's operations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, including sales, marketing, parts and service, logistics, R&D, customer support and regional operations.

Guyton spent 16 years in leadership positions in Europe. Yasuhiro Aoyama, currently a managing executive officer for Mazda’s operations in Japan, will succeed Guyton to head Mazda Europe.

Masashi Otsuka, has been appointed to the new position of senior vice president of Mazda’s Alabama business unit, reporting to Guyton. Otsuka will lead Mazda’s efforts at the company’s joint venture plant with Toyota Motor Corp. in Huntsville, which is due to launch production in 2021. Mazda will produce an all-new SUV/crossover at the facility.

Masaki Ueno will succeed Otsuka as MNAO’s vice president of research and development and design. Ueno currently is general manager of the vehicle testing and research department at Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan.

All of the moves are effective April 1.
