Mazda Widens Recall for Takata Airbag Inflators
Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling another 155,800 vehicles in the U.S. to replace explosion-prone Takata Corp. airbag inflators.

Mazda Motor Corp. is broadening previous recalls in the U.S. to replace explosion-prone Takata Corp. airbag inflators to cover an additional 155,800 cars and crossover vehicles.
The latest campaigns involve passenger-side frontal airbag inflators either installed at the factory or used to replace the original device. Takata inflators have been blamed for some two dozen fatalities and more than 100 serious injuries worldwide.
Vehicles covered by the recall comprise certain 2010-2011 RX-8 sports cars, 2010-2013 Mazda6 midsize sedans (pictured), 2010-2012 CX-7 compact crossovers and 2010-2015 CX-9 large crossovers.
Mazda will begin the recall in November. Dealers will replace the Takata inflators with devices supplied by another manufacturer. The company is among 19 carmakers who are expected to eventually replace 90 million Takata inflators in the U.S. alone.
