Mazda Motor Corp. will call back 264,500 of its 2014-2016 model CX-5 midsize crossover vehicles in the U.S. to replace a fuel filler pipe that could break and leak if the vehicle is struck from behind.
The problem was discovered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Mazda says it will begin the recall after it accumulates enough replacement parts.
Separately, the carmaker is recalling about 19,000 of its 2004-2006 B-series small pickup trucks in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Saipan. Dealers will replace driver-side Takata Corp. airbag inflators that could explode in a crash. The same trucks previously were recalled to replace passenger-side Takata inflators with the same problem.
Mazda says its Takata-related recalls in the U.S. so far total 442,300 driver-side inflators and 416,500 passenger-side inflators.
