Chinese regulators say Mazda Motor Corp. is preparing to recall 42,700 Mazda6 sedans in the country to replace faulty airbag inflators.
Mazda confirms the inflators were supplied by Takata Corp. Mazda and seven other carmakers have recalled some 10.5 million vehicles in the past five years to replace defective Takata airbag systems that could explode.
Chinese officials say the inflators being recalled in that country may fail to work or cause a fire.
