Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Maybach unit has unveiled its all-electric Vision Ultimate Luxury concept car ahead of this week’s Beijing auto show.

The concept, which blends a three-box sedan profile with the stance of a crossover/SUV, is expected to preview a Maybach version of the Mercedes GLS crossover vehicle. Media reports say a Maybach GLS could be introduced as early as next year.

The Vision Ultimate is 207 inches long, 83 inches wide and 69 inches tall. This makes it about five inches longer, seven inches wider and three inches shorter than the current GLS. The Maybach concept also is larger in every dimension than the Bentley Bentayga crossover, which likely would be one of its main competitors.

Power comes from four electric motors that generate a combined 750 hp. The car’s 80-kWh battery provides an estimated driving range of more than 200 miles on the European test cycle. A new ultra-fast 350-kW DC charging unit can replenish the battery for 60 miles of range in five minutes, according to the carmaker.

The interior features Mercedes’ dual-screen layout that combines a configurable digital instrument cluster and infotainment display under a single screen. Other highlights include leather upholstery, chrome accents and ebony wood reminiscent of that used in high-end Chinese furniture.

Rear passengers sit in individual, reclining seats. The center console between the seats stores a complete tea set with a kettle and various types of teas.
