At these levels, the first-ever Maserati crossover would be priced in the middle of the luxury crossover/SUV segment. The top-end Levante S would significantly undercut the $99,000 BMW X5 M, while the base model would split the difference between the $65,000 Land Rover Range Rover Sport and the $77,000 Porsche Cayenne S.
In the U.S., the base Levante is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 that makes 345 hp. The souped-up Levante S is rated at 424 hp. Both models are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Maserati will take the wraps of the production models at next week’s New York auto show. Sales are due to start later this year.
