Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV CEO Sergio Marchionne tells Bloomberg News it would be "technically feasible" for FCA to merge with either Ford or General Motors. But both would-be partner tell the news service they aren't interested.

Marchionne often opines that further consolidation in the global auto industry is inevitable. He contends that carmakers must form alliances to help spread the cost of developing cleaner and higher-tech cars.

He says companies continuously banter about merging but adds there currently are no substantive discussions to report. FCA has no restriction about partners, although Bloomberg says Marchionne appears unenthusiastic about pairing up with PSA Peugeot Citroen. He adds that he has had no discussion of any kind with Volkswagen about merging.
