India’s Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. says poor demand has prompted it to shut down sales of its electric e2o electric city car in the U.K., Reuters reports.
Mahindra introduced the entry-level car (pictured) in England last year in hopes of developing a European market for the $7,200 two-seater. The car can travel 120 km (75 miles) on a charge.
But Mahindra says sales of the e2o have been “untenable” to justify the cost involved. The company tells Reuters it intends to focus primarily on its home market, where is says EVs are “poised for a takeoff.”
