Magna Near Deal to Buy Getrag?

Canada's Magna International Inc. could announce a deal yet this week to acquire 80-year-old German transmission maker Getrag AG, sources tell Bloomberg News.

The news service reported two weeks ago that family-owned Getrag was considering an initial public offering or an equity sale to Dana, Magna or a Chinese company.

Bloomberg says Getrag, whose annual sales are close to $4 billion, would be integrated into Magna's own powertrain components business, which accounts for about $5 billion of the Canadian company's nearly $40 billion in sales.
