Magna Adds Czech Seating Plant to Serve BMW

Canada’s Magna International Inc. has opened a factory in Chomutov, Czech Republic, to supply seats to BMW AG for multiple vehicle programs.

The 6,000 sq-m (64,600-sq-ft) facility has the capacity to build more than 360,000 seat sets per year. Magna did not reveal the cost of the plant or details about its supply contract with BMW. The company signed its first seating deal with BMW a year ago.

The new factory joins 15 others operated by Magna’s seating business in Europe, including five in the Czech Republic.
