Ford Motor Co. has named Jason Luo to be chairman and CEO of Ford China, effective Sept. 1.

Luo, 51, is joining Ford from Key Safety Systems Inc., the Michigan-based company acquired last year by China’s Ningbo Joyson Electronic Corp. He has served as president and CEO at Key for 10 years.

Luo will be based in Shanghai and report to Peter Fleet, president of Ford Asia Pacific.

Separately, the carmaker has appointed David Filipe as vice president of powertrain engineering. Filipe, 50, will succeed Bob Fascetti, who will retire on Oct. 1 after nearly 30 years in the company’s powertrain and product development areas.

Filipe, 50, is a 25-year Ford veteran. Most recently he was vehicle line director for trucks, large SUVs and commercial vehicles in North America. In his new role, he will be responsible for powertrain engineering worldwide. Filipe will report to Hau Thai-Tang, executive vice president for product development and purchasing.
